Your Path to Personal Growth
Individual Therapy
I believe therapy consists of not only changing the way we think, but making important lifestyle changes, cultivating significant relationships, and gaining a deeper perspective of oneself to positively affect overall well-being. You may find yourself attempting to “stuff” issues such as anxiety, sadness, feeling withdrawn, or relationship problems. You don’t have to face these issues alone. We’ll work as a team to develop tools to gain deeper insights, manage the inevitable barriers you face, and gain more control over your psychological concerns so you can live a better life.
I address both concerns and strengths with a straightforward and action-oriented approach while utilizing evidenced-based treatments, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). My training and clinical experience in nationally renowned settings including hospital, academic, and community systems have prepared me to help clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds and presenting issues feel welcomed, understood, and comfortable in the therapeutic relationship. I integrate training and expertise in optimal performance, psychophysiology, and clinical health psychology into my practice. Beyond using clinical assessment and judgment to develop a clear treatment plan tailored to a patient’s unique needs, a key pillar of my therapeutic approach is to foster an environment in which my patients feel willing to share openly and also push themselves to achieve their treatment goals. My role as a therapist is comparable to that of a GPS and the clients as the drivers of the car – I guide them to where they want to go, and they push the pedals and steer the wheel. Clients learn practical and concrete skills which are delivered in a straightforward, present-focused, and understandable way. I take a collaborative approach to help patients integrate newly learned skills into their daily lives, and then they are encouraged to practice and discuss feedback. Over time, clients may discover new patterns of thinking and behaving, helping them to feel more in control and better able to react to life stressors with insight and positivity.
I realize it can be difficult to take that first step in seeking therapy and ultimately finding the right therapist for you. Throughout this process, we’ll work together to clarify your goals so you can begin to feel better and more empowered. I look forward to working with you and welcome any questions you may have.
